Terry’s Cycle Website
Purpose
The purpose of this project is to drive a significant improvement in Terry’s Cycles’ digital presence, enhancing its ability to engage and serve the Mid-Michigan cycling community. By redesigning the layout of the website and incorporating user-friendly features, the aim is to establish an effective online platform that facilitates communication between the stakeholders and their audience. The website redesign and enhanced functionality will continue to serve as a pivotal tool for Terry’s Cycles to engage with its customers, promote its products and services, and foster community involvement.
The Process
Planning
When starting the project, I was not sure what exactly I wanted to do for the project. The first few weeks of the project I reached out to local businesses that I was interested in working with. Terry’s Cycles was one of the first clients that I reached out to to work together and it was also one of the businesses that I was most interested in. Initially, I was looking to do a complete social media revamp for them, but when looking at their website, I realized that it could use some work.
Project Launch
I wanted this project to be completely collaborative with the stakeholders of Terry’s Cycles, just to make sure I wasn’t making changes that they would just get rid of after the completion of the project. During this stage, a lot of the process was feeling out where they needed help with their online presence. Things that they wanted to improve included the landing page, promotional videos, and webpage design.
Fine-Tuning
After publishing changes to the website, I was able to view what kind of impact was made using different KPIs through a plugin on Wordpress. I can access the visits and views from up to 5-6 years ago, which really helped me guage how much their website was being used in comparison to their other platforms like Facebook and Instagram. I noticed a lot more activity on their facebook, so I ended up integrating their Facebook feed onto their homepage.
The Process
After understanding the wants and needs of my client, I moved forward with making visual changes to the website along with creating promotional videos for the store. I stayed in close contact with the stakeholders and was able to meet at least once a week for about two-months. This allowed me to gain critical feedback from stakeholders to translate their vision and goals into a website that effectively serves as a tool for their business.
