The Process
Environment Design
When shaping the environment you play in, I took into consideration the fact that I’m developing a VR game, people are going to want to explore instead of really focusing on the game. With that in mind, I changed the room to be smaller to make sure the player actually plays the game instead of wandering around a giant environment.
Card Design
When developing the cards, I wanted to make sure the game wasn’t too simple. To add some spice to it, I added a system where cards can have “badges” or modifiers to change the tide of battle. Some cards can fly, others can block attacks. I thought this would bring more variety in builds and overall, enhance the way you think about playing the cards.
Game Design
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
VR Engine
This project was built on the Unity game engine. When researching what game engines I should use, I found that Unity was used by many different developers in the gaming industry. With that in mind, I used Unity also for its innovative Virtual Reality support, which has helped streamline the process of creating this game.
